Spring 2020 – that was different
Well, this is shaping up to be quite a Spring time!!
Neither March or April panned out as we would have expected … there may have been lambs and ducklings but the Covid-19 pandemic meant that most of us saw very few of them! The weather however has been peculiarly pleasant … April showers have been few and far between – we may, or may not regret enjoying this through the summer if water shortages and hosepipe bans kick in.
The Furniture Store in Hasland has had to close temporarily, though we’ve continued to trade online and expand the ranges of furniture there. We’ve added some really lovely items of Real Wood furniture – we’ll talk about those at a later date!
Most of the retail team are at home with their families with all the challenges of home schooling, shopping and caring for older family, etc. Some are shielding because of their own medical conditions, others have become NHS Volunteer Responders.
All of us are currently working towards the 2.6 Challenge!
The 2.6 Challenge
When the Covid-19 pandemic took hold here in the UK and the Government stepped up measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus, closing non-essential retail shops this included our Ashgate Hospicecare shops and coffee shops within the local community.
Faced with coronavirus, our specialist end of life care has never been more in demand. We urgently need your help to support friends and family within our community.
To this end the Retail Team has accepted the Ashgate Hospicecare 2.6 Challenge and have decided to aim to cover the distance of 144 miles (the distance between all of our shops) by running, walking, cycling, hopping, skipping or even just taking steps based around the numbers 2, 6, 26 or 2.6. So whether that’s a 2.6 mile run/cycle,, 2.6 km walk or 26 steps it all contributes! Obviously all within the confines of our homes, gardens or permitted neighbourhood exercise.
Please support by giving what you can on the Ashgate Hospicecare Retail 2.6 Challenge page, and we will do our very best to support as many people as we can, no matter what.
